Personal profile

Research interests

My role involves running the single crystal and powder X-ray crystallography service for the department.

My research interests are focussed primarily on examining processes that can be induced in the solid state for example the photo [2+2] cycloaddition reactions of alkenes, thermo and photo chromism in anils as well as spin crossover.  This research aims to gain a greater understanding of structure-property relationships.  Alongside this research I also carry out single crystal X-ray charge density refinement to study bonding and intermolecular interactions in both small organic molecules and organometallic complexes and conduct synchrotron or neutron diffraction experiments to support this research.
