Personal profile

Research interests

As a management accounting researcher I am interested in, broadly speaking, the relationships between management accounting and control systems and managerial behaviour. In my PhD dissertation, by conducting a signle case study on a Japanese manufacturer, I explored how 'self-interested' and 'group-interested' behaviour of middle-managers in a decentralised organisation is triggered by management accounting and control systems.

My research topics include: responsibility accounting, accountability, managerial behaviour, qualitative research methodology, environmental management accounting and control systems, Japanese management accounting and control systems (including Amoeba Management), management accounting and control practices, and costing.
