Research interests

Jamie is a quantitative social researcher at the Personal Finance Research Centre. His main research interests include:

  1. Financial inclusion, studying the changing nature of access to cash and other financial services in an increasingly digital world;
  2. Consumer vulnerability, focusing predominantly on the role of financial services firms in supporting customers at high-risk of detriment (for example, due to mental health conditions, or high-risk gambling behaviours);
  3. Financial technology, measuring the potential impact of FinTech innovations on consumers’ financial situation and general wellbeing.

As part of his role at PFRC, Jamie is also currently on a Parliamentary Academic Fellowship at the House of Commons Library, where he produces briefing papers for MPs on issues related to personal finance and financial services.

Prior to joining PFRC in 2015, Jamie worked as a Research Assistant at the Community Development Foundation, part of the Community Investment Coalition, which campaigns for fair and affordable access to financial services for all.
