Personal profile

Research interests

In my research thus far I have critically explored the role of the Jewish non-atrocity heritage and the memory of the Holocaust for Polish nation building during the fall of Communism and transition to democracy. My new project investigates tourist sites under Communism as spaces of negotiation of gender, class, and ideology. I am a cultural historian with particular interest in Eastern European history, nation-building, and the history of social consensus under Communism.
