Personal profile

Research interests

I am a senior biomedical scientist focusing on research in ocular immunology, immunoaging, and therapeutics, particularly gene therapy for chronic retinal diseases and associated metabolic disturbances. My research centers on uncovering the immune mechanisms behind age-related degenerative eye conditions and developing innovative therapeutic strategies to prevent or reverse disease progression. I have a track record of leading collaborative research and actively mentoring students at all levels and emerging scientists.

I also contribute to the scientific community as a reviewer for major funding bodies such as the MRC, and as a peer reviewer for leading journals, including Science AdvancesMolecular Therapy, Autophagy, Journal of Neuroinflammation, Frontiers in Immunology, Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, International Immunopharmacology, Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, and iScience. Additionally, I serve as a topic editor for Frontiers in Immunology and Cells.
