My research interests are mainly focused on improving the assessment of seismic hazards through earthquake modelling and forecast testing. In particular, I combine physics- and statistics-based methods to estimate earthquake activity at regional and global scales. Then, I evaluate the consistency of these forecasts with observed earthquakes.
Until now, I have worked on time-independent ensemble models that combine interseismic strain rates with earthquake-catalogue data. Currently, as a postdoctoral researcher of the European RISE project, I am modelling the time dependence of geodesy-based seismicity models for Europe, which might be useful for real-time earthquake forecasting and informed decision making. In addition, I contribute to the development of forecast tests used in the Collaboratory for the Study of Earthquake Predictability (CSEP).
