Personal profile

Research interests

I am a Lecturer in Cardiovascular Science based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. So far, my research interests have included developing novel therapies for saphenous vein graft failure, atherosclerosis driven by comorbidities like periodontitis, and abdominal aortic aneurysms. My main pursuit is examining how smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells become dysregulated in vein graft failure, and developing "smart", cell-selective gene therapies to keep them in check.

I am lead for the Aneurysm, Peripheral Arterial Disease, and Stroke unit on the Translational Cardiovascular Medicine MSc course, and lead for Generic Skills Training on the BHF-funded 4-year PhD in Integrative Cardiovascular Sciences programme.
