Louisiane Bigot is a researcher of French Literature at the University of Bristol. Her work focuses on the poetry of two women writers who travelled extensively throughout the British and French empires and encountered the colonial world: Valentine Penrose (1898-1978) and Valentine de Saint-Point (1875-1953). Her research considers the ways these experiences of travel in the colonial world shape and shift the representation of the Self and the Elsewhere in the poetry of these writers, published between 1900 and 1950.
This student has been awarded a University of Bristol Research Scholarship (GTA).
