Personal profile

Research interests

I am interested in the epidemiology of childhood chronic kidney disease, in inequalities in access to kidney services and best practice care, and use of mixed-methods research to address research questions important to children with kidney disease and their families. My NIHR Doctoral Research Fellowship focused on understanding the problem of late presentation of chronic kidney disease in childhood: to understand factors associated with late presentation, symptom predictors of advanced kidney disease, and the lived experience of the pathway to diagnosis for late presenting children and their families.

In my post-doctoral work, I will use healthcare data to determine whether children at risk of develop chronic kidney disease and kidney failure can be identified from healthcare interactions. My aim is to reduce the burden of late presentation of chronic kidney disease and develop interventions which support timelier diagnosis of kidney disease in children, to improve long-term outcomes.

Outside of the University, I am the Paediatric Research Lead for the UK Renal Registry and Communications Officer for the British Association for Paediatric Nephrology. I am also a member of the UK Kidney Association Paediatric Supportive Care Specialist Interest Group.
