Senior Lecturer in Health Services Research and Epidemiology, Population Health Sciences, University of Bristol. I co-lead the Applied Data Science Team in the National Institute for Health and Care Research Applied Research Collaboration West (NIHR ARC West). I co-lead the Non-communicable Disease Epidemiology Unit for the MSc Epidemiology Programme.
I lead studies evaluating complex interventions aiming to improve patient outcomes. I am particularly interested in the application of mixed methods approaches, combining quantitative and qualitative methods, to understand changes in health care delivery and implementation. I use novel and advanced methods, including natural expriement designs, in applied health research.
I have vast experience of using routinely collected data from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), the Hospital Episode Statistics (HES), ONS Mortality Data, and the National Cancer Registration and Analysis Service (NCRAS).
