Research interests
My doctoral research investigated the contestation and reproduction of a gendered social order within women's club football in Latin America (specifically Brazil & Colombia). Using a mixed methodological approach it placed the discourse and representations of the media and football governing bodies in dialogue with the perspective of players. Based on a nine-month ethnography, during which I visited three clubs for a period of three months each, it problematised many of the gendered assumptions propagated by the media and football governing bodies.
