I am a geology (organic geochemistry) PhD student at the Organic Geochemistry Unit, School of Chemistry and School of Earth Sciences, University of Bristol (UoB).
In my PhD, I extracted lipids of deep-sea drilled black shale (organic-rich) sediments from the equatorial Atlantic Ocean to understand geological past warming events. My main tools are molecular fossils (lipid biomarkers) analyses to study the interactions of microbial life with biogeochemical cycles and climate from a molecular perspective via mass spectrometry, high-performance liquid chromatography and compound-specific stable isotope analysis.
