Research interests

Mojtaba Dorri is an Associate Professor and Consultant in Restorative Dentistry (Endodontics, Prosthodontics, periodontology, and implantology). He is active in teaching, research, and clinical practice.

His research has garnered national and international recognition. He has published over 90 works, including Cochrane Reviews, articles in high-impact journals, Cochrane Clinical Answers, Joanna Briggs Institute guidance, book chapters, and commentaries. He has received several prestigious grants, including from MRC CiC, NIHR RCF, Innovate UK (ICURe), and Above & Beyond. He has served as an associate editor and lead author with notable research organizations, including the Cochrane Collaboration and the Joanna Briggs Institute (Australia). His innovations in clinical techniques and devices include a newly patented patient shield (NoPaS), designed to enable aerosol-generating procedures without viral transmission risk, recommended for spin-out by Innovate UK ICURe.

In education, he has led and taught numerous undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and conducted workshops and seminars for general dental practitioners and specialists on Restorative Dentistry, Periodontology, Implantology, and Evidence-Based Dentistry. His research also covers the application of advanced technologies, including AI, VR, and AR, in medical and dental education and the use of AI in cancer diagnosis and management, with these technologies introduced into his teaching.
