Research interests

Nick's research focuses on Social Stratification and the Sociologies of Work and Education. His current projects are concerned with inequalities in elite occupations. Previous projects have investigated working conditions in the gig economy and the consequences of the marketization of state education.

His research has been published in American Sociological Review, British Journal of Industrial Relations, British Journal of Sociology of Education (Best Early Career Article Award), Socio-Economic Review, and Work, Employment and Society.

He holds a DPhil in Sociology from Nuffield College, Oxford, where he was also Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellow. He completed an MSc in Political Sociology (LSE), and a BA in Politics (Cambridge).
