Research interests
Rodney Sampson is Emeritus Professor of Romance Philology in the French Department. His research interests lie particularly in the phonological history of the Romance languages. He has taught a wide range of courses at undergraduate and graduate level, on comparative Romance linguistics, the contemporary French language and the evolution of French, Spanish and Italian. Currently, he is working on aspects of the history of the syllable in the Romance languages.
