Research interests

Ruby is a Senior Research Associate in Integrative Epidemiology of Obesity Group and the Immunopsychiatry Research Group.

Her current work explores associations between genetic liability to Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia, circulating immune proteins and early-life infections. Her other research interests are in mental-physical multimorbidity and life course epidemiology, and have been involved in projects examining the development of mental-physical multimorbidity in later life, and mental and cardiometabolic health trajectories in early life.

She holds a PhD in Psychiatry from UNSW Australia, and her doctoral research investigated the biological and environmental factors contributing to late-life depression. Prior to joining the IEU, she worked as a Researcher at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford, analysing English primary care data on influenza and COVID-19 vaccine adverse events and uptake; and as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Oxford, looking at longitudinal patterns of depression and cognitive change using data from ageing cohorts in different countries.
