Personal profile

Research interests

I am a Professor of Quantum Photonics and EPSRC Quantum Technologies Fellow in the Quantum Engineering Technology Labs, in Physics and Electrical and Electronic Engineering. My research interests centre around the use of solid-state quantum emitters that interact with light, for quantum technology applications.

I am Principle Investigator and Co Investigator of several research grants which cover a range of research interests:

Present Grants

  • EPSRC Quantum Technologies Fellow: "Project 1D QED" EP/N003381/1: a 5 year fellowship to create useable single photon sources and quantum photonic switching technology.
  • PI of EPSRC Standard Grant "SPIN SPACE" EP/M024156/1, a collaboration with the University of Essex where we will combine single photon sources and semiconductor spin lasers in a multicore fibre platform.

Previous grants:

  • PI of EU FP7 Future and Emerging Technologies collaboration grant " Spin Photon Anglar Momentum Transfer for Quantum Enabled Technologies" ( SPANGL4Q).
  • EPSRC Career Acceleration Fellowship: "Nuclear Nanomagnets for Quantum Optical Spin Devices"

  • Co-I of CHIST-ERA collaboration grant " Solid- State Quantum Networks" (SSQN)

  • I have also very recently received a New Directions for EPSRC Research Leaders Award, on "Biomimetics for Quantum Optics".
