Research interests

Sabrina Grant is a Research Fellow in the Musculoskeletal Research Unit at the University of Bristol. She is a divisional member of health psychology and chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and Special Group of Coaching Psychology.  Sabrina applies a range of techniques to both qualitative and mixed methods studies.  Her portfolio of research relate to the management of long term health conditions within the NHS with a special interest in cardiovascular health. Her work focuses on translational health research which otherwise means she works closely with researchers, clinicians, patients and carers from primary and secondary care fostering relationships and interdisciplinary collaborations and developing high quality user-engagement research around areas of the self-management of long term conditions, health beliefs and behaviour, implementation of health technology and digital health, focusing ultimately on the patient-clinician interface.

Sabrina currently is working on an EPSRC funded programme of work called SPHERE (http://www/irc-sphere.ac.uk), director, Professor Ian Craddock. SPHERE stands for Sensor Platform of Healthcare in a Residential Environment. SPHERE is working with clinicians, engineers machine learners, designers and social care professionals as well as members of the public to develop sensors for the home to diagnose and help manage health and well-being conditions. The main project Sabrina is leading within SPHERE is called HEmiSPHERE, the Hip and Knee study of a Sensor Platform for Healthcare in a Residential Environment, Chief Investigator, Professor Rachael Gooberman-Hill, which will assess the clinical value of this novel unobtrusive sensing technology installed within the homes of NHS patients awaiting elective surgery for primary hip or knee joint replacement.
