Research interests
My main research interest is on the topic of working class alienation within contempoary British society. The project involves themes such as 'whiteness' in relation to working class identity, the history of the worker movement in the U.K., and the historical decline of the class during and post-Thatcher. My response to this alienation is grounded in a socialist-orientated Ethical-Idealist metaphysics which has been derived from the writings of key intellectuals such as TH Green and Bernard Bosanquet, as well as GDH Cole, the early-Harold Laski, and RH Tawney. The position combines a belief in the importance of community in encouraging individual flourishing and adopts a positive stance towards the expansion of civil society associations as means of imbuing the working class with a sense of dignity and power.
