Personal profile

Research interests

My academic research is concerned with the ideas about British culture and identity that are represented in the internationally successful films of the Harry Potter and James Bond series between 2001 and 2012. I am particularly interested in the role that the films' paratexts (promotional materials and merchandise) play in framing these representations. My approach highlights the use of analysing ephemera, a methodology championed by the New Film History and New Cinema History movements.

My MPhil thesis, which focuses on Harry Potter, has been uploaded to the University library and is available to read:

The Harry Potter film franchise and the representation of traditional Britishness
