Research interests
The research group is devoted to expanding our understanding of host-pathogen interactions, with a particular focus on comprehending protective immune responses to infections. This knowledge is essential for the development and testing of novel vaccines and delivery methods. Specializing in the pathogenesis of viral and bacterial infections in poultry, our expertise in viral vaccinology extends to the creation of a cell-free vaccine against Marek’s disease using feather follicle stem cells. Additionally, we are actively involved in the identification and testing of non-antibiotic compounds that can effectively control bacterial infections in livestock without eliciting an inflammatory response.
Furthermore, we have developed advanced methods and reagents to analyze immune protection correlates, emphasizing both conventional and non-conventional T cells, including natural killer T cells in chickens. I serve as a core member of Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council committe A, and I am also the Editor in Chief of Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology.
