Personal profile

Research interests

My research interests are focused on aspects of environmental sustainability and the ways in which the principles of sustainable development can be applied to conservation and management in specific contexts, including climate change. My research focuses on an inter-disciplinary understanding of habitat management, exploring the relationships between soil degradation, sediment transfer and human behaviour in rural environments. This has been achieved through developing innovative methodological techniques to understand how natural landscapes change through time as a result of different land management practices.

My current research is on Monitoring, Reporting and Verification as part of the CO2RE Hub Team, The UK’s national research hub on Greenhouse Gas Removal (GGR): https://co2re.org/

As well as being a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and Institute of British Geographers, I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), having developed research which focuses on innovative pedagogic strategies within the environmental sciences to promote excellence in teaching and learning.
