Research interests

My PhD investigates the welfare of horses in England and Wales and is being funded by World Horse Welfare.  In particular I have been looking at stakeholder perceptions of horse welfare as a means of identifying welfare problems, their causes and solutions.  I have been utilising qualititave methods including semi-structured interviews and focus groups to explore, in depth, the perceptions held.

As part of this research I have also carried out an expert consultation aimed at identifying the priority welfare issues facing horses.  The consultation has been carried out over three rounds and has used a number of tools including card sorting exercises and a facilitated workshop.
