Research interests

I am interested in the tectonic and thermal evolution of moutain belts. I am particularly interested in subduction zone geodynamic processes, and how a change in tectonic regime from compression to extension changes the thermal profile of the lithosphere and influences the develpment of metamorphic core complexes and the distribution of mineral resources including PCD's.

I am a new member of the Bristol PCD group researching how tectonics may influence the location of PCD's, using the SW US as a case study. My previous research involved extensive field and petrological based studies of the Cycladic Islands in the Aegean Sea, and included identifying new deformation and metamorphic events that was part of a complete mountain building cycle. I am also interested in the influence of stress on metamorphic processes in large subduction zone fault zones and how water can affect the physical properties of high-pressure metamorphic rocks and alter their microstructure.
