Personal profile
Research interests
I am an Emergency Medicine doctor and clinical academic focused on improving the quality and equity of emergency care through high-impact research.
I am Co–Chief Investigator of CoMiTED-2, a £2.8 million multicentre RCT evaluating chest drain strategies in traumatic injury.
My research has a strong focus on trauma care and injury prevention, alongside a growing programme of work addressing serious youth violence, exploring the role of Emergency Departments as key sites for early intervention.
My broader portfolio includes research in anaphylaxis, acute headache, e-scooter injuries, doctors’ psychological wellbeing, drink spiking, and cross-cultural adaptation of research tools.
Across these areas, I am particularly interested in how research can be delivered effectively and equitably in emergency settings.
I am committed to building research capacity within Emergency Care by supporting collaboration and developing the next generation of researchers.
Over the next five years, my work will focus on advancing evidence in traumatic chest injury management, developing interventions to prevent serious youth violence and improving the treatment of patients with life-threatening anaphylaxis.
