Research interests

Wenjuan has unique and extensive cross-disciplinary expertise spanning various research domains. Initially a lab-based pharmacist and biochemist, she focused on drug and nutrients metabolism and pharmacokinetics. Since 2019, Wenjuan has been evolving her research skills in evidence synthesis and multidisciplinary data integration, particularly in the area of AMR. Her previous research includes:

  1. Antibiotic use and bacterial infections in patients with COVID-19 during the pandemic.
  2. Antimicrobial stewardship and AMR in primary care and community settings.
  3. Drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics.
  4. Nutrients metabolism and the gut microbiome.

Currently, her research focuses on AMR and antimicrobial stewardship in clinical settings, with a particular emphasis on orthopaedic infections, and maternal and infant infections and AMR transmission.

Her research methods include bioanalytical techniques (such as advanced liquid/gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry, e.g., HPLC-MS/GC-MS), bio/clinical chemistry, evidence synthesis, multidisciplinary data integration, and the design and execution of clinical studies and mixed-methods trials.
