Research interests

Zuzana's research interests are in applied ethics, particularly in biomedicine. One of Zuzana’s research areas is the relationship between theory and practice. She is interested in professionalism (particularly codes of ethics, integrity and conscientious objections), and the respective roles of public discourse and academic bioethics in public policy making. Zuzana worked on this topic with Ruud ter Meulen on the EU-funded EPOCH project. Zuzana is co-lead of the Bristol team working on the EU-funded PRINTEGER project (Promoting Integrity as an Integral Dimension of Excellence in Research), examining specifically researchers' experience of integrity and misconduct in the workplace.

Zuzana also works on the ethics of prenatal genetic testing and screening, especially non-invasive prenatal testing. She has been a researcher on the EU-funded SAFE project and the NIHR-funded RAPID project on this topic, and was recently a member of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics Working Group exploring the ethical issues of non-invasive prenatal testing.
