An Empathetic Realisation of Embodied Grief in Fiction Film Project: Research

Prize: Prizes, Medals, Awards and Grants

Description

A collaborate creative research project that seeks to capture the lived experience of grief in a fiction film. Through collaboration with grief counsellors, funeral celebrants, artists, and academics, the aim of this project is to explore the potentials in representing grief in a more nuanced and phenomenologically-minded manner. By taking lived-experiences of grief and attempting to represent these on screen empathetically through utilising formal elements of film language (cinematography, mise-en-scène, sound design etc), this practice-as-research project seeks to explore the possibility of creating sensitive and authentic cinematic representations of grief.
