The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum Stipend

Prize: Prizes, Medals, Awards and Grants

Description

The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum at the University of Exeter, UK, is both a public museum and a rich research resource for scholars of moving image history. The museum is named after the renowned filmmaker Bill Douglas and was founded on the extraordinary collection of material he put together with his friend Peter Jewell. In the twenty-eight years since its opening, the museum has received donations from many sources and now has over 93,000 artefacts on the long history of the moving image from the seventeenth century to the present day.

Since 2017 we have offered funded stipends to visit us in Exeter and consult our collections, generously enabled by philanthropic donations. We are able to offer stipends for 2025-6 for scholars, researchers, and practitioners to research using the collections at The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum with support from Research England's Higher Education Museums, Galleries and Collections Fund, which augments our philanthropic funding.
