Project Details
Description
The project aims to interrogate an emerging narrative asserting the existence of a sui-generis European human
rights order, founded on market freedoms, which is claimed to necessitate treating companies as victims of
human rights violations. It will evaluate the scope for extending human rights to companies under the European
Convention system whilst preserving the integrity and goals of human rights protection in Europe in line with
other international human rights treaties and in the light of growing concerns about the global rise of corporate
power and the use of international law by transnational corporations to protect private commercial interests.
