This research project explored the journalistic, filmic and theatrical output of writer Aubrey Menen. Investigating the archival holdings in the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center, University of Boston. It looked in particular at Menen’s networks in Britain among the Bloomsbury group in the 1930s, his work as dramatic critic for the literary magazine The Bookman and his work with the Experimental Theatre company. It discovered new evidence how Menen as a half-Indian, half-Irish, homosexual man navigated the imperial metropolis and formulated his own notion of a hybrid cultural identity.
