Project Details

Description

The project aims to deliver two slightly differing outcomes based on which part of the aims I have focused on: Aim 1 (a&b): Expected outcome is the creation of a new network of researchers and a space that affords discussions, exploration and ideas exchange on the topic of parents’ involvement in research on autistic children. The main outcome is to bring together a interdisciplinary networks with shared approaches and to inform parent co-production workshop, through a number of disciplines interested in any identified gap in the research.Aim 2: Expected outcome through a co-production workshop is related to solidifying gaps in knowledge and accessibility, whilst aiming to develop new research questions and approaches for further funding. From the workshop new barriers will have been identified, relating to economic and demographic status, community, and their child’s needs. This will enable the academics to consider the suggested solutions in future research.

Layman's description

A research project bringing together a network of local parents to discuss what they might need from the research community. In turn, this information will be fed back to a newly established network of researchers with the aim to develop new funded research pathways with parental involvement.
