Project Details

Description

This project seeks to strengthen and broaden the international and interdisciplinary collaboration of three groups of researchers from the Universities of Bristol, Bonn and Cornell working at the intersection of the disciplines of classical studies (esp. Greco-Roman literature, theatre and art history) and media studies (esp. media theory and media archaeology). More specifically it aims to develop new research initiatives around (a) the foundational role of ancient Greece and Rome in media and communication theory and (b) media-theoretically and media-historically inflected modes of thinking around the processes of formation and transmission of classical texts and artefacts.
