Creating inclusive care home environments for older LGBT+ people: an online learning resource

  • Willis, Paul B (Principal Investigator)

Project Details

Funded by a grant from the ESRC Impact Acceleration Account, 2018-19. The overarching objective of this project is to co-produce a research-informed online learning resource for care and nursing home staff and managers in England and Wales that communicates messages for informing practice from recent and current research on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) inclusion. The aims are to: 1) distill key findings and recommendations from two research studies into new learning materials; 2) co-produce a learning resource and website that includes two short digital films and accompanying learning materials to inform the continuing education of care and nursing home staff and managers; and, 3) initiate dissemination of the learning resource to care and nursing homes across England and Wales. The purpose of the learning resource is to directly inform and improve care home practice with older residents identifying as LGBT+ and in turn foster more socially inclusive living environments for all residents.
