Project Details

Description

The project builds on the UoB’s and Macquarie University’s strategic partnership and follows the signing of a co-tutelle agreement in 2017. Since then, the Faculties of Arts at both institutions have expressed the desire to explore the possibility of a dual PhD programme and to develop cross-institutional collaborative research projects. We now plan to pursue both aims through scoping work in three areas where the two Faculties share global expertise: ancient history and classical civilisation; medieval cultures and histories; modern mobilities and transnationalism. The project consolidates existing individual
partnerships, creates new ones, and provides for all a supportive, overarching rationale and cross-institutional framework.

Layman's description

This project explores common approaches, questions and interests between the Faculty of Arts at the University of Bristol (UK) and Macquarie University (Australia). It concentrates on three areas in this initial phase: ancient history and classical civilisation; medieval cultures and histories; modern mobilities and transnationalism. The project consolidates existing individual
partnerships, creates new ones, and provides for all a supportive, overarching rationale and cross-institutional framework.
