DOMESTIC ABUSE PERPETRATOR RESEARCH IN BRISTOL

We were commissioned to research domestic violence perpetrators in Bristol and to feed into the development of a perpetrator programme in 2006. We developed profiles of domestic violence offenders and established sophisticated risk assessment tools. The profiling took place across three groups of domestic violence perpetrators; perpetrators convicted of domestic violence offences; perpetrators who were not convicted of domestic violence offences and perpetrators from BME communities. The risk assessment tools for perpetrators of domestic violence assessed the risk of harm to the professional and the risk of harm to the victim, children of the victims and future victims.
