Project Details

Description

This study was a Randomised Controlled Trial of diet and exercise in 539 people with newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetes. Participants were randomised to control, diet or diet plus exercise conditions. The intervention was for 1 year, but primary follow up was at 6 months, as medication had been held constant for this period. The participants were followed for a further 5 years after the intervention ended. The study found that glucose control has improved in both intervention arms compared to controls.
