Project Details
Description
The Southeast European region is one of great instability. Over the last decade it has experienced dramatic social, political and economic changes ranging from (a) the break-up of the federal state of Yugoslavia, (b) the transition to a democratic political culture, (c) the transition to a market economy, (d) the consequences of civil wars and NATO bombardments in Serbia, and the consequent need for reconstruction. The research will focus on three main themes, namely, the contribution to reconstruction and development of:
• Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs)
• Regional cooperation, intra-regional trade and Foreign investment
• European integration
This three year collaborative research project is funded by the British Academy and the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The researchers include leading scholars from both the UK and Croatia. Research findings will be presented at a series of three international conferences to be held in Croatia and a number of seminars and workshops in the UK.
