ESRC seminar series: International comparisons of mortality data about people with intellectual disabilities

Project Details

Description

This three-year seminar series brings together practitioners, policy-makers and academics interested in better understanding patterns and trends in the mortality of people with intellectual disabilities.

The aim of the seminars is to:

• Agree a set of definitions and benchmarks that will support internationally comparable data to be collected
• Share experiences from a range of countries about collecting mortality data regarding people with intellectual disabilities
• Provide a community of support for academics and practitioners in countries where collecting mortality data about people with intellectual disabilities is problematic
• Support academics from different countries with funding applications to undertake internationally comparable work on the mortality of people with intellectual disabilities

Provide initial international comparisons about premature mortality of people with intellectual disabilities, sufficient to allow the development of indicators and strategies to address common concerns.
