Project Details
Description
This Brigstow Ideas Exchange 2020 Project explores the possibility of establishing a European Network for Community Wellbeing and Resilience.
The exchange will explore how different European community projects, social movements, researchers, and initiatives define, measure and experience wellbeing and resilience. It will seek to determine what platforms,
mediums of exchange, and resources are needed to develop relationships and nurture dialogues between these actors. Together we will explore and expand best practice for community wellbeing and resilience.
This enquiry will cultivate the emergence of a European network for community wellbeing and resilience. We will first set out to define a shared understanding of these two terms. We will then consider how notions of wellbeing and resilience are affected by ownership of space, specifically in what ways permanent residency is essential for community projects to flourish. This knowledge-exchange will inform what strategies for community wellbeing and resilience the European Network will explore. We are particularly concerned with whether or not community ownership of buildings should be a prioritised strategy to help ensure positive wellbeing and strong resilience amongst community projects.
