EVALUATING THE OUTCOMES OF SOCIAL WORK EDUCATION IN SCOTLAND (OSWE-S)

Project Details

Description

Recent knowledge reviews for the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) identified a scarcity of evaluations of the outcomes of education and training in social work. A discussion paper written for SIESWE and SCIE by John Carpenter proposed various approaches to measuring outcomes and their evaluation. SCIE and SWAP (the Higher Education Academy’s subject centre for social work and social policy) subsequently commissioned John Carpenter and Hilary Burgess to run a three-year action research project based on a learning set for social work educators and evaluators from six English universities.

Following a successful first year, the project, known as OSWE (Outcomes of Social Work Education) has been extended to Scotland.
