Innovating for the future – empowering young people to solve challenging problems

Project Details

Description

Working with The Entrepreneurs' Network, the objective was to test the appetite among policy makers, organisations that support youth enterprise and HE Institutions to view Young People as a resource to tackle innovation challenges particularly relating to Climate Change.

Key findings

There was a general consensus that entrepreneurship offered some great opportunities to tackle climate change - in some cases with more probability of a positive outcome than Government led initiatives because young entrepreneurs were less set in their ways, more engaged in the outcome and had fewer vested interests in preserving the status quo. Getting Young People involved in such challenges also brought them into civic engagement and helped overcome some of the mental illness associated with climate anxiety.
