Internship at House of Lords UK Parliament: The Impact of Annex B on Single-Sex Accommodation Policy in NHS Hospitals

Project Details

Description

Investigating the Impact of Annex B on Single-Sex Accommodation Policy in NHS Hospitals

During my four-month internship at the House of Lords, I am investigating the impact of Annex B, an addition to the single-sex accommodation policy that focuses on the transgender population. Introduced in 2019, Annex B aims to address the inclusion of transgender patients while maintaining dignity and privacy within NHS hospitals.

My research involves analyzing hospital admissions data over time, focusing on the number and regional distribution of breaches of the single-sex accommodation policy. By comparing data before and after Annex B's introduction, I aim to assess its impact on compliance across different NHS trusts.

This study will provide insights into how Annex B has influenced hospital practices and policy implementation, contributing to the ongoing discussion on patient care standards within the NHS.
