Description
A critical analysis of the Action-Reaction Principle in modern philosophy of physics, particularly its use by Harvey Brown against Bohmian Mechanics and Geometric Substantivalism in Special Relativity, ultimately demonstrating that its historical grounding is insufficient to necessitate even the weakest form of the principle. In addition, I explored different ontological variations of de Broglie-Bohm Theories, and how these could be formulated to satisfy or obviate the Action-Reaction Principle, pace Brown.
Key findings
The Action-Reaction Principle is ungrounded, and should be used as a desideratum at best, rather than a requirement for physical theories. Additionally, various de Broglie-Bohm Theories can be formulated with differing ontologies to satisfy or obviate the principle.
