Project Details
Description
Using two British cohort studies, the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) and the Millennium Cohort Study (MCS), this fellowship will explore the longitudinal patterns and predictors of multiple cancer-risk exposures (MCRE). MCRE are modifiable behaviours including tobacco smoking, alcohol consumption, physical inactivity, overweight and obesity, unhealthy diet and
risky sexual behaviour that are associated with cancer incidence and mortality.
The research objectives are to:
(1) Explore the patterns of engagement in MCRE during adolescence;
(2) Analyse the association between these patterns of MCRE and cancer-related adverse health outcomes at age 25 years;
(3) Investigate which childhood and family antecedents predict harmful engagement in MCRE in adolescence; and
(4) Develop an intervention to reduce engagement in MCRE and cancer-related adverse health outcomes.
