Project Details
Description
FUNDED by the Society of Antiquaries of London.
This project is dedicated to the private library and archives at Woburn Abbey. The purpose of the project is, first, to map out the extent of the collections of manuscripts written and collected by Francis Russell, 4th earl of Bedford, during the first 4 decades of the seventeenth century; second, to discover more about the history of the library at a physical space; and third, to start discovering how Russell used his manuscripts. This is scoping study, with an eye on a larger future project.
