Project Details
Description
Mapping LGBT+ Bristol was a collaboration between University Bristol, Bristol City Council, local LGBT+ history group OutStories Bristol and the LGBTQ youth group Freedom Youth. The project involved local volunteers in the researching, recording of Bristol’s LGBT+ history and the creation of a digital map and mobile app to display and elicit further contributions to the material collected. The map is also visible as a layer on Bristol City Council's digital history map, Know Your Place.
In addition to a richly populated digital map of Bristol's LGBT+ history, the project also produced a set of Key Stage 4 curriculum resources which use the map and app to engage young people with the map content and explore gender, identity, place and space.
