New Grid and I: Engaging the public with the visions of smart energy innovations

The project will engage the public with the topics surrounding energy innovations by communicating information about engineering and computing in an attractive and accessible form.
Three pieces of artwork (both digital and physical) will be produced through a workshop activities in collaboration with the project partners: Bristol City Council, Ofgem and Bristol Energy Network. The themes of the art works are:
1. Heat electrification 2. Data Sharing via Energy Data platforms and 3. Avoiding cyber security risks.

Energy systems are in transition. The newly emerging systems require both business and public engagement as the new energy system is heavily reliant on data production, sharing and use (e.g., to balance the generation and use of energy from distributed and intermittent energy resources, etc.).
However, many businesses as well as many citizens are not familiar with the key notions of the newly emerging smart energy solutions. This project aims to develop art-driven educational materials which will help explain 3 of the rather difficult concepts (heat electrification, data sharing and cybersecurity risks) to the relevant stakeholders and public.
