Police perpetrated domestic abuse and sexual violence

Project Details

Description

This is a body of unfunded work which Dr Fay Sweeting and I have developed since 2023, looking at police-perpetrated domestic abuse and sexual violence.

We published two articles: the first, looking at women's experiences of reporting abusive police partners to the police (in Policing & Society, 2024); and the second on the lived reality of being in a relationship with a police perpetrator (in the International Journal for Police Science and Management (IJPSM), 2025).

In October 2025, we guest edited a special issue in the IJPSM, comprising nine international papers.

In November 2025, we wrote a blog summarising the work for the British Society of Criminology Policing Network.
