Project Details

Description

PROMINSTAT (Promoting Comparative Quantitative Research in the Field of Migration and Integration in Europe) is a FP6-funded project that the School for Policy Studies is carrying out in collaboration with 17 partners in Europe. It aims to address the need for comparative data in the field of migration, integration, discrimination and asylum at European level. It will do so by producing the following outputs:

• an online database containing essential technical information on statistical datasets in 27 European countries and the variables included in these datasets;
• country reports describing national data collection systems;
• thematic studies which will explore the possibilities for conducting comparative research in a number of thematic areas in the broad field of migration and integration.

SPS is responsible for collecting information on datasets in the UK and Ireland and for preparing the reports for these countries. It will also produce two thematic EU-wide studies, one addressing asylum and refugees and the other investigating the links between the data needs of policy makers, data provision and data collection policies.
